About

Free, open-source application for visualising, analysing and annotating audio recordings.

Sonic Visualiser is a desktop application for looking closely at what is inside an audio file. It displays waveforms and highly configurable spectrograms and spectra in stacked panes, and lets you add annotation layers such as beat positions, notes and regions.

Analysis can be extended with Vamp plugins, which extract features such as beats, chords, pitch and onsets and display them alongside the audio. It is developed at the Centre for Digital Music at Queen Mary University of London and is used by musicologists, archivists and signal-processing researchers.
